Immigration Law (In a nutshell)

Ok, so here's a 30 second, quick and dirty overview of immigration law:

         It's complicated.

No, seriously.

Although people can (and do) try to navigate the alpha-numeric soup of forms, there are intricacies that are occasionally best left for lawyers.  And issues that people probably wouldn't be dealing with if they had sought a lawyer's help to begin with.  And don't even get me started on the problems that arise when people procrastinate on immigration issues, because oftentimes that just makes a bad situation worse, and certainly won't make it go away.

Immigration issues also aren't universal.  So if you're planning on moving to Canada or anywhere else, you'll need the help of an immigration lawyer based there, because a U.S. based lawyer probably won't know anything about their laws.

So the long and short of it is, if you're dealing with an immigration issue, you'd be well served in consulting with an immigration attorney.
